Privacy Policy

1. Scope and who we are

This Privacy Policy applies to Behkaav Maps on the web, Android, and iOS, the Behkaav website, and the related mapping, collaboration, routing, search, speech, AI, and support services (together, the “Services”).

The Services are operated by Behkaav Pardazan Pars Rassam. In this policy, “Behkaav,” “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to that company. This policy does not apply to independent websites or services that you open through an external link.

2. Information we handle

The information depends on the features you choose to use and may include:

• Account and profile data: first and last name, email address, username, authentication credentials, profile photo, biography, role, permissions, and account preferences.
• Map and project content: projects, drawings, spatial features and attributes, imported datasets, saved map state, routes, activity tracks, attached photos, videos and documents, and project collaboration settings.
• Community and sharing data: public posts, comments, likes, follows, invitations, share links, collaborator identities and permissions, and live-sharing recipients.
• Location and activity data: precise or approximate coordinates, accuracy, time, altitude, speed, bearing, and derived route, distance, or duration information when a location-based feature is active.
• AI, search, and speech data: assistant prompts and replies, chat history, map context or tool results you provide to the assistant, search queries and retrieved public pages, and audio you submit for speech-to-text.
• Device and service data: IP address, browser or device type, operating system, app version, language, request date and time, service logs, error details, and push-notification tokens.
• Support communications: information you send when asking for help, reporting a problem, or making a privacy request.

3. Location, tracks, and live sharing

Behkaav Maps asks for device permission before accessing location. Foreground location can show your position, search nearby, calculate a route, or add a coordinate to your work. If you start activity recording or live location sharing, the native app may continue receiving location while the screen is off or the app is in the background. A persistent system notification is shown where the operating system requires it.

Background location is not required for ordinary browsing. You can stop the active feature inside the app or revoke location permission in your device settings. Doing so may disable location-dependent features.

A recorded track remains local unless you save or upload the related project or share it. When live sharing is enabled, the latest location is sent to Behkaav and shown only to the project collaborators or approved followers you select. Current-day locations may remain visible through the sharing feature; older locations are not presented as live presence. Content you intentionally publish or expose through a share link may be viewed by anyone who has access to that post or link.

4. Why we use information

• Create and secure accounts, maintain sessions, and provide the Services you request.
• Render maps, geocode places, calculate routes, save projects, synchronize work, record activities, enable collaboration, and deliver notifications.
• Process voice input and provide AI-assisted answers and spatial operations. AI output may be inaccurate and should be reviewed before relying on it.
• Respond to support requests, diagnose failures, prevent fraud or abuse, protect users and the Services, and comply with lawful obligations.
• Measure reliability and improve features using operational information. We do not use precise location to build advertising profiles.

5. Information stored on your device

Behkaav Maps uses browser or app storage, IndexedDB, caches, and native app storage to keep sign-in sessions, language and theme settings, local projects, unsaved edits, staged attachments, map resources, and offline data. Local-only projects are not uploaded merely because you create or edit them. They are sent to our servers only when you choose an online save, sync, publishing, sharing, transcription, AI, or other network feature that requires the data.

You can remove local information by deleting it in the app, signing out where that action clears the relevant cache, clearing the site/app data, or uninstalling the app. Clearing local storage can permanently remove unsynced work.

6. When information is shared

We may disclose information only as described below:

• With people you choose: project owners and collaborators, approved followers selected for live location, recipients of invitation or share links, and the public when you publish a post or project.
• With processors that help operate the Services, such as infrastructure and hosting providers, Google Firebase for optional push notifications, AI model providers, and search or page-retrieval providers. They receive only the information needed for their function and process it under their own terms and our arrangements with them.
• When required by applicable law, a valid legal process, or a good-faith need to protect rights, safety, security, users, or the Services.
• As part of a merger, financing, reorganization, or transfer of all or part of the business, subject to appropriate confidentiality and notice where required.

We do not sell or rent personal information. Behkaav Maps and behkaav.ir do not currently use third-party advertising trackers. Data made public by you can be copied, indexed, or redistributed by others beyond Behkaav’s control, even after you remove the original content.

7. Retention

We keep account and server-synced content while your account is active and for as long as reasonably needed to provide the Services. You may delete many projects, features, attachments, posts, comments, and AI chats through available controls. The latest live-location record is kept as needed to operate sharing but is not shown as current live presence after the day it was recorded.

After deletion, limited copies may remain temporarily in backups, security logs, or systems awaiting routine deletion. We may keep information longer when reasonably necessary for security, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, legal compliance, or enforcement of our agreements. Local information remains on the device until you delete it, clear app/site data, or uninstall the app.

8. Your choices and privacy rights

• Review or update available profile information and change your password in the app.
• Choose whether to save a project locally or synchronize it with the server, and export supported spatial data formats.
• Set project permissions, stop live sharing, disable a share link, remove public content, unfollow users, and manage notification permissions.
• Allow, limit, or revoke location, background location, camera, photo-library, microphone, and notification permissions in device or browser settings.
• Request access, correction, a portable copy, restriction, objection, or deletion of personal information where applicable by emailing us. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request.

9. Security and international processing

We use reasonable technical, administrative, and organizational safeguards intended to protect information, including access controls and encrypted network transport where supported. No system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Protect your password and avoid publishing sensitive locations or documents through public links.

Our infrastructure and service providers may process information in Iran or other countries. Those countries may have different data-protection rules. Where required, we use appropriate contractual or other safeguards for such transfers.

10. Children

The Services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has provided personal information without appropriate authorization, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the Services or legal requirements change. We will publish the revised version here, update the date above, and provide additional notice inside the Services when a change is material and such notice is appropriate.
